North Eastern Hill University ( NEHU ) MCA Entrance Examination.

North-Eastern Hill University was set up by an Act of Parliament and notified on 19th July 1973. The objectives of the University, as laid down in the act, are "to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit; to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the hill areas of the North-eastern region, and in particular, the intellectual, academic and cultural advancement".

The North-Eastern Hill University ( NEHU ) is a premier academic institution and one of the oldest central universities in India. The university launched PG programmes in professional courses in Management, Engineering and Law in 2006.  NEHU had announced the admission for Master of Computer Application ( MCA ) for the Academic year-2015. Admission will be on the basis of the marks secured at the qualifying examination and the entrance test conducted by the University. Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for the Academic year-2015-16.

North-Eastern Hill University( NEHU ) MCA Admission Reservation of Seats-2015:

For Master of Computer Application-MCA Course :

Application in the prescribed form are invited for admission to the courses of study in the North Eastern Hill University for admission of  Master of Computer Application ( MCA ) Course in the academic session 2015-16.

Reservation of Seats For NEHU-MCA Admission :

The distribution of seats shall be as follows:

  1.  Open Category: 30%.
  2.  Reserved for SC / ST: 50%. Other things being equal, preference will be given to domiciles of Meghalaya.
  3.  Reserved for Physically Challenged: 3%. Such applicants will be examined by a  medical board.

Reserved for NEHU employees, their spouses and children:

10%. Certificate of employment should be issued by the office of the Registrar. The seats remaining vacant under this category will be converted to open category.

University Quota: 7% earmarked for the following categories:

  • Educationally backward areas: The level of backwardness shall be determined  vis-à-vis national level of literacy  ( 2011 census ) . The literacy rate at the block   level will form the basis of award of added marks. Certificate in this regard should be issued by the Block Development Officer.

  1. Widows / wards of armed forces personnel killed / disabled in action or during peace  time.
  2. 5% exclusive reservation for wards of ex-servicemen  ( supernumerary seats ) .

Weightage Assignment :

All weightages for different categories  ( e.g., physically challenged / university quota, etc. )  shall be added to the aggregate percent score obtained in the entrance test.The weightage in the form of additional points instead of percentage be given to the candidates admitted to Professional Courses is as follows:

  1. 5 points for candidate who passed 10+2 from School / College within Meghalaya but is not a permanent domicile of Meghalaya. OR
  2. 10 points for candidate who is a permanent domicile of Meghalaya ( supported by SC / ST or Permanent Resident certificate )  and passed 10+2 from School / College outside   Meghalaya.OR
  3. 15 points for candidate who is a permanent domicile of Meghalaya  ( supported by SC / ST  or Permanent Resident certificate )  and passed 10+2 from School / College within  Meghalaya.

Consolidated Percent Of Seat:

The department shall prepare a consolidated list of all applicants. Thirty percent of the total number of seats authorized by the university shall be filled by merit  ( open category )  and shall   include SC / ST students who by merit can figure in the open list. For 50% of the seats, a  separate list of candidates belonging to SC /  ST shall be prepared and the seats shall be filled  up from this category in order of merit.

Any or all the seats under category „physically challenged shall stand converted to category „university quota‟, if not filled. Similarly, any or all seats of category „university quota shall stand converted to „open‟ category, if not filled.

Admission of foreign students:

They shall be made against supernumerary seats, provided the concerned department has adequate facilities. The admission shall be made through the   Central Committee for Admission of Foreign Students, NEHU following the guidelines of Government of India..Children of Indian workers in the Gulf may also be accommodated under this category.

Kashmir Migrant :

Admission of the wards of Kashmiri Migrants shall be made against supernumerary seats as per Government of India rules.
