Exam Syllabus

CBSE, ICSE/ISC and State Board syllabus are followed for setting the test papers.

Section – 1: Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

Section – 2: History and Generation of Computers, Types of Computers, MS-Windows 7, MS-Word(Working with Charts and Tables, Using Page Layout tab, Arranging multiple windows of a document), MS-PowerPoint(Creating presentation using Animation, Custom Animation and Transitions, Creating new slides using Slides pane, Outline pane and Slides from Outline, Working with Handouts and Notes Master, Arranging multiple windows of a presentations, Working with Charts and Tables), Internet & E-mail, Introduction to QBasic, Hardware, Software, Input & Output Devices, Memory & Storage Devices, Latest Developments in the field of IT.

Section – 3: Higher Order Thinking Questions - Syllabus as per Section – 2.

Exam Fees

A charge of Rs 125* (including 18% GST) towards cost of examination is payable by each participating student for Schools in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and  Nepal, except a student suffering from any major physical disability or an Indian student whose parent was martyred during defence operations. Further the school may collect an amount upto Rs 25** per student towards honorarium of incharge, remuneration to teachers to teach, guide using study material supplied by SOF and other miscellaneous expenses.

How to Participate

Registration of Students: The SOF NCO is open to the students of classes one to twelve. Prospectus containing the Registration forms are sent to all schools registered with SOF. Schools not registered may also request for prospectus by sending an e-mail at info@sofworld.org/ phone call. Schools must return the registration forms to SOF, duly filled in and complete in all respects by the due date.

Roll Numbers: The school's coordinating teacher will generate the students' Roll Numbers as per the guidelines given. A copy of these roll numbers along with the Students' Registration Sheet (SRS) and School Registration Form (SRF) should be sent to the Foundation's office before the due date of submission of forms.

Foundation will register the applicant school and the students and dispatch question papers and guidelines for conducting the examination. Principals / teachers may please note that any school can be registered as a center for SOF NCO. No fee is required from the institution to become a registered examination centre. A minimum of 5 students need to be registered for SOF NCO from each school for feasibility reasons.

The SOF NCO is conducted on two dates. Each school may select a date for conducting the SOF NCO as per its convenience. Each date of exam has a separate question paper. Change of date for conducting SOF NCO is not permitted.

Students should register through their respective schools only. Individual registrations by students are not accepted.

The exam is conducted during school hours.

Awards / Scholarships / Recognitions

For the academic year 2018-19, SOF will spend over Rs. 16 Crores on awards, Scholarships, gifts & felicitations etc.

The following awards will be provided to the winners SOF National Cyber Olympiad being held during the academic year 2018-19.

Awards / Scholarships - Students

International, Zonal and Class topper awards will be provided to winners of SOF NCO. NCO is a single level exam and will be conducted for students from classes one to twelve.

Each winner will be entitled to one award for an exam. The winners will be entitled to the higher level award only. For eg, the international top 3 rank holders will be entitled to awards based on their International ranks. Awards accruing to them for their Zonal ranks will be given to the next rank holder. Similarly, class award accruing to a Zonal award winner will be given to the next rank holder.

At School Level

 

1. Medals to Class Toppers.

  • Where 10 or more students from a class (including all sections) write an exam – the top three rank holders will be awarded a gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
  • Where between 5 to 9 students from a class (including all sections) write an exam – the topper will be awarded a gold medal.
  • In addition to above, for each section from a class, from where 25 or more students write an exam – the top three rank holders will be awarded a gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
  • All students whose sections are not indicated will be allocated section “X” by default.

2. Student Performance Report (SPR) for each participating student.

  • Every student who appears in SOF NCO will be  provided with a Student Performance Report (SPR). An SPR is a detailed analysis of how the student attempted the SOF NCO exam.
  • The objective of SPR is to share with the student and her / his parents, analysis of student’s answers. This is expected to enable the student understand her/his strengths and areas requiring improvement in absolute terms and also on a competitive scale consisting of lacs of students who appeared in the Olympiad.

The SPR consists of six sections:

  • Section A – provides the student’s marks and rank achieved in School / City / Zone / at international level.
  • Section B – provides a section wise performance score of the student.
  • Section C – provides correct answers to questions asked in the Olympiad exam, the answers given by the student and performance comparison of the student’s answers vs other students in the Zone and at the international level.
  • Section D – provides a percentage score analysis of the student with a comparison with the Class, City, Zone and international level.
  • Section E – provides a comparison of average marks analysis at the School, City, Zone and international level.
  • Section F – provides a comparison of the student’s performance in the Olympiad exams during the past 8 years.

  • Questions of level-I Olympiad exams will be 60% from the current class syllabus and 40% from the previous class syllabus, e.g. Class-7 NSO exam will have 60% questions from class-7 syllabus and 40% questions from class 6 syllabus.
  • Questions of level-II Olympiad exams will be from current class syllabus only.
  • Questions in Achievers Section will be from current class syllabus only

At School Level

1. Medals to Class Toppers.

  • Where 10 or more students from a class (including all sections) write an exam – the top three rank holders will be awarded a gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
  • Where between 5 to 9 students from a class (including all sections) write an exam – the topper awarded a gold medal.
  • In addition to above, for each section from a class, from where 25 or more students write an exam – the top three rank holders will be awarded a gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
  • All students whose sections are not indicated will be allocated section “X” by default

2. Student Performance Report (SPR) for each participating student.

  • Every student who appears in SOF IEO  is provided with a Student Performance Report (SPR). An SPR is a detailed analysis of how the student attempted the 1st level Olympiad exam.
  • The objective of SPR is to share with the student and her / his parents, analysis of student’s answers. This is expected to enable the student understand her/his strengths and areas requiring improvement in absolute terms and also on a competitive scale consisting of lacs of students of her/his class who appeared for the Olympiad.

The SPR consists of six sections:

  • Section A – provides the student’s marks and rank achieved in School / City / Zone / at international level.
  • Section B – provides a section wise performance score of the student.
  • Section C – provides correct answers to questions asked in the Olympiad exam, the answers given by the student and performance comparison of the student’s answers vs other students in the Zone and at the international level.
  • Section D – provides a percentage score analysis of the student with a comparison with the Class, City, Zone and international level.
  • Section E – provides a comparison of average marks analysis at the School, City, Zone and international level.
  • Section F – provides a comparison of the student’s performance in the Olympiad exams during the past 8 years.

Exam Syllabus

CBSE, ICSE/ISC and State Board syllabus are followed for setting the test papers.

Plants and Animals, India and the World, Science and Technology, Earth and its Environment, Universe, Language and Literature, Entertainment, Social Studies, Sports, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning, Current Affairs, Life Skills (Empathy, Effective Communication, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Coping with Stress, Decision Making, Problem Solving, Interpersonal Skills, Managing Emotions, Self-awareness).

Achievers Section: Higher Order Thinking Questions from the above given Syllabus.

Exam Fees

A charge of Rs 125* (including 18% GST) towards cost of examination is payable by each participating student for Schools in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal, except a student suffering from any major physical disability or an Indian student whose parent was martyred during defence operations. Further the school may collect an amount upto Rs 25** per student towards honorarium of incharge, remuneration to teachers to teach, guide using study material supplied by SOF and other miscellaneous expenses.

How to Participate

Registration of Students: The SOF IGKO is open to the students of classes 1 to 10. Prospectus containing the Registration forms are sent to all schools registered with SOF. Schools not registered may also request for prospectus by sending an e-mail at info@sofworld.org/ phone call. Schools must return the registration forms to SOF, duly filled in and complete in all respects by the due date.

Roll Numbers: The school's coordinating teacher will generate the students' Roll Numbers as per the guidelines given. A copy of these roll numbers along with the Students' Registration Sheet (SRS) and School Registration Form (SRF) should be sent to the Foundation's office before the due date of submission of forms.

Foundation will register the applicant school and the students and dispatch question papers and guidelines for conducting the examination. Principals / teachers may please note that any school can be registered as a center for SOF IGKO. No fee is required from the institution to become a registered examination centre. A minimum of 10 students need to be registered from each school for feasibility reasons.

The SOF IGKO is conducted on two dates. Each school may select a date for conducting the SOF IGKO as per its convenience. Each date of exam has a separate question paper. SOF IGKO is a single level exam.

Students should register through their respective schools only. Individual registrations by students are not accepted.

The exam is conducted during school hours.

Similarly, class award accruing to a Zonal award winner will be given to the next rank holder.
