The year was 1946, the month June the day 23rd. On this momentous day, the seed of an institution was sown, which has now grown into a huge sprawling tree with many branches. nurturing generations of students in its fold. Yes, this was the day when B. J. Medical College was founded to replace erstwhile B. J. Medical School, with Shri B. G. Kher the head of the Bombay Government, laying the foundation stone, the school churning out licentiates, made way for the college training and training out full fledged medical graduate doctors.
