Tamilnadu Engineering Admission (TNEA)

Tamilnadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) is conducted every year by the Anna University. Through TNEA 2019, candidates can get admission in the engineering undergraduate courses after class 12th. No entrance exam is conducted from many years to offer admissions. The counselling will be organized by the Anna University for providing admission in various Engineering colleges in the state of Tamilnadu.

Anna University is in charge of this counselling. Thus, eligible candidates who wish to take admission in UG courses in the state of Tamil Nadu have in the academic session 2019-20, must apply for TNEA 2019. For PG admission in engineering, a common entrance examination – TANCET 2019 is conducted by Anna University. But for UG admission candidates don’t have to go through any such entrance test. TNEA 2019 will be their only gateway for admission in engineering undergraduate courses after class 12th. TNEA 2021 Eligibility Criteria

TNEA 2019 Eligibility:

TNEA 2019 eligibility criteria reflects that candidates will be eligible for admissions if they fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria:

Nativity:

Candidates are eligible to apply for admission through TNEA if they are:

·         Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed their Class VIII to Class XII standard in Tamil Nadu.

·         Children of Central Government Employees, irrespective of their nativity, provided their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years at the time of TNEA application form submission.

·         Sons/daughters of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre officers.

·         Children of employees in the Public Sector or Government recognized institutions who at the times of TNEA 2019 application form submission had been working in their organizations for the past five years are also eligible to apply, irrespective of their domicile.

·         Other state candidates who have studied from Class VIII to Class XII in Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA 2019.

·         Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standards or their equivalent examinations from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA.

TNEA 2019 Eligibility Criteria: Qualifying Exams

Candidates are eligible to apply for TNEA if they have cleared their HSC (academic) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together as mentioned below:

Apart from the above mentioned eligibility criteria, candidates will also be eligible for admissions if they have cleared any one of the HSC (Vocational Subject) as mentioned below with an one of the Engineering related subjects namely Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry with a minimum average percentage put together as mentioned below:

Eligibility for Marine Engineering:
  • Candidates should secure a minimum of 60% score in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English
  • The minimum weight of the candidate should be 48 kg and minimum height should be 157cms.
  • Candidates should be physically fit and a normal color vision.

Important Notes:

  • Those candidates who qualify for admission need to provide the original and a photocopy of the documents.
  • Practices like rounding of marks and normalized marks will not be considered for eligibility.
  • Candidates who have cleared their 12th grades from outside the state must attach a Nativity Certificate only in electronic form/digitally signed e-Certificate to fulfill the eligibility criteria.
