Fruit develops from bicarpellary, syncarpous superior ovary, initially one chambered but subsequently, two-chambered due to the formation of the false septum (replum). The fruit dehisces along two suture. Eg: Brassica.

Connation product of stamens and stigma is called gynostegium. Eg: Calotropis and Orchidaceae.

1. If a plant develops three kinds of flowers, i.e., staminate, pistillate and bisexual flowers, on the same plant, it is described as Polygamous.
2. Eg: Mango.

In some plants, the calyx persists even after fruit formation and is called persistent calyx. Eg: Brinjal.

1. When a single fruit develops from a single ovary of a single flower, it is called simple fruit.
2. The ovary may be monocarpellary or multicarpellary syncarpous. Eg: Cucumber.

1. Apocarpous Ovary: A pistil contains two or more free carpels Eg: Annona.
2. Syncarpous Ovary: A pistil contains two or more Carpels which are connate. Eg: Citrus, Tomato.

In addition to the ovary, floral parts like thalamus, perianth, Involucre etc develop into fruit Such fruits are called false fruits. Eg: Apple (Thalamus), Jackfruit (Perianth).

1. The head inflorescence is surrounded by green coloured bracts called involucre of bracts.
2. They protect the young flowers and fruits.
3. Eg: Sunflower.

When several flowers arise in a cluster on a common axis, the structure is called the inflorescence.

When a flower has both male sex organ (Androecium) and female sex organ (Gynoecium), it is called a bisexual flower. Eg: Hibiscus, Clitoria.

The opening of anthers to disperse pollen grains is called dehiscence. It is of different types such as Longitudinal, Transverse etc.

It is a special inflorescence. A circular disc-like fleshy open receptacle bears pistillate flowers at the center and staminate flowers at the periphery. Eg: Dorstenia.
