1.
(i) Cattle Insurance:
This is a bond in which a sum of money is secured to the insured in case of an event of death of animals like bulls, buffaloes, cows and heifers. The cause of death may be an accident, disease or pregnant condition, eic., The insurer normally agrees to pay excess in case of loss.
(ii) Crop Insurance:
This policy is to provide financial support to farmers in case of a crop failure due to drought or flood. It generally covers all risks of loss or damages relating to production of rice, wheat, millets, oil seeds and pulses etc., .
(iii) Sports Insurance:
This policy is, a comprehensive cover for amateur sports persons regarding their sporting equipment, personal effects, legal liability and personal accident risks. If desired it can also be extended to a named member of the insured's family but it is not available to professional sports person. The cover is generally for following sports or more: Angling, badminton, cricket, golf, lawn tennis, squash and use of sporting guns.

The classification of Marine Policies are:
On the Basis of Subject matter:
The policiesare classifiedinto three categories.They are:
(a) Cargo Insurance:
They deals with the insurance of goods while in transit by ship. This insurance provides protection against various risks such as fire, explosion, collision, theft, storm, jettisoning, etc., The cargo includes wares, merchandise, property, machinery, goods and so on.
(b) Hull Insurance:
The insurance deals with the insurance of ocean going vessels, fishing vessels, yachts, dredgers and. builder's risks when the ship is under construction. This policy covers risk of fire, collision, storm, standing and liabilities against third parties .
(c) Freight Insurance:
Freight is payable for the carriage of cargoes. If the vessel is charted, hiring charges are payable. The carrier will lose the freight, if the cargoes are not delivered at the destination and the insurance company will cover the loss of freight

The life insurance policies can be divided on the basis of:
(i) Duration of Policy:
According to the duration the life policies may be Whole Life Policy and Term Insurance Policy.
(a) Whole Life Policy:
Under this policy the sum assured is payable to the legal heir only on the death of the assured. It is to protect and support the family of the assured after his death. The premium may be payable throughout the life of the assured or for a limited number of years.
(b) Term Insurance Policy:
This policy covers the risk only during a particular period. The sum assured is payable only if death happens during the term. Under this, policy, premium rate is lower than any other policy. Nowadays in order to attract more people, the premium paid are returnable afterthe term is over, if deathdoes not occur.
(ii) Policies According to payment of premium: It is single premium policy and limited payment whole life policy are undertaken.
(iii) Policies According to participation in profits: It may be 'without profit policies' and 'with profit policies'.
(iv) Policies According to the number of persons insured: The policy may be:
(a) Single life policy,
(b) Multiple life policy,
(c) Joint life policy,
(d) Last survivorship policy.
(v) Policies According to the method of payment of claims:
The policy are:
(a) Lumpsum policies,
(b) Instalment or Annuity policies.

'Indemnity' means, 'to make good the loss suffered'. The principle of indemnity is applicable to property insurance alone. Insurance contracts are contracts of indemnity. This means that, the insured should be placed after a loss, in the same position as he was immediately before the loss. This principle ensures that the insured does not make any profit out of insurance.

Under the scheme of mediclaim, the insurance companies pay for the insured's hospitalisation, domiciliary hospitalisation, intensive care, surgery and other medical expenses. With a small annual premium the insured can avail all mediclaim benefits. The premium rate depends on the category and the scheme has to be selected by the insured.

A fire insurance contract does not ensure the safety of the insured property. Its purpose is to compensate the pecuniary loss from the insured property due to fire. It is a personal contract between the insurer and the insured. If the insured property is transferred to another person, the contract of insurance comes to an end. Thus, the object of fire insurance is to indemnity, the insured against loss from fire.

(i) Marine insurance is a contract of insurance under which the insurer undertakes to indemnify the insured in the manner and to the extent thereby agreed against marine losses.
(ii) The insured pays the premium in consideration of the insurer's (underwriter's) guarantee to make good the losses arising from marine perils or perils of the sea.
(iii) Marine perils can be collision of ship with the rock, fire, ship attacked by the enemies, etc. These perils cause damage, destruction or disappearance of the ship and cargo and nonpayment of freight.
(iv) Through marine insurance policy, the insurer undertakes to compensate the owner of a ship or cargo'for complete or partial loss at sea.
The Essential' elements of Marine Insurance Contracts are:
1. It is based on the principle of indemnity
2. The contract is based on utmost good faith.
3. The insurable interest must exist at the time of loss.
4. The principle proximate cause will apply to marine loss only.

IRDAI - Insurance Regulatory Development and Authority is the statutory, independent and apex body that governs, regulates and supervises the Insurance Industry in India. It was constituted in the year 2000 by Parliament of India Act called IRDAI Act, 1999. Presently IRDAI headquarters is in Hyderabad.

Crop Insurance:
