Questions + Answers key
Take MCQ Biology Test1.
Repeated fission is a type of multiple fission. Yes or No? Why?
2.
How is the fertilization of amphibians differs from aves based on site?
3.
What do you mean by regeneration in living organisms? Mention its types.
4.
Identify the parts marked as A, B, C, D and E for the below diagram.

5.
Identify the parts marked as A, B, C, D and E for the below diagram.

6.
What is paedogenesis?
7.
Mention the phases in the life cycle of an organism.
8.
Define hologamy.
9.
What is exogamy?
10.
What are exogenous buds?
11.
What is plasmotomy?
12.
Name the phenomenon where the female gamete directly develops into a new organism with an avian example.
13.
Name an organism where cell division is itself a mode of reproduction.
14.
Which type of reproduction is effective -Asexual or sexual and why?
15.
1.
Yes. If multiple fission produces four or many daughter individuals by equal cell division and the young ones do not separate until the process is complete, then this division is called repeated fission e.g. Vorticella
2.
In amphibians, the fertilization is external (taking place outside the body of a female organism) whereas internal fertilization takes place in aves.
3.
Regeneration is the regrowth of injured region.
It is of two types
(i) Morphallaxis
(ii) Epimorphosis
4.
A - Scolex
B - Neck
C - Immature proglottids
D - Mature proglottids
E - Gravid proglottids
5.
A - Monaxon spicules
B - Micropyle
C - Outer membrane
D - Archaeocytes
E - Inner membrane
6.
(i) In paedogenetic parthenogenesis (paedogenesis) the larvae produce a new generation oflarvae by parthenogenesis.
(ii) It occurs in the sporocysts and Redia larvae of liver fluke.
7.
Juvenile phase I Vegetative phase, reproductive phasel maturity phase, Senescent phase.
8.
It is a type of fertilization. In lower organisms sometimes the entire mature organisms do not form gametes but they themselves behave as gametes and the fusion of such mature individuals is known as hologamy.
E.g. Trichonympha.
9.
It is a type of fertilization. In exogamy, the male and female gametes are produced by different parents and they fuse to form a zygote. So it is biparental. E.g. Human - dioecious or unisexual animal.
10.
When buds are formed on the outer surface of the parent body, it is known as exogenous budding. E.g. Hydra.
11.
(i) Plasmotomy is the division of multinucleated parent into many multinucleate daughter individuals, with the division of nuclei.
(ii) Nuclear division occurs later to maintain normal number of nuclei (e,g:) Opalina and Pelomyxa.
(iii) Plasmotomy occurs in Opalina and Pelomyxa.
(iv) It is a method of asexual reproduction
12.
Parthenogenesis is the phenomenon in which female gamete directly develops into a new organism. (e,g:) Honeybee (male or drone).
13.
In monocellular organs cell division is itself a mode of reproduction. (e.g:) Bacteria, Euglena and Amoeba.
14.
1. Sexual reproduction is considered to be a better mode of reproduction because it creates a hybrid that has more vigor than the parents.
2. It also creates the variation in off springs making its survival better.
3. The fact that most of the eukaryotes reproduce sexually in evidence of its evolutionary success.
4. In many animals, it is actually the only mode of reproduction.
15.
