14.
Give two equivalent ratios of 3 : 5.
15.
In a class, there are 40 boys and 80 girls. What is ratio of the number of boys to the number of girls?
1.
Sum of ratios = 5 + 3 = 8
Total contribution = Rs. 1000
\(\therefore\) Contribution made by one employee
= \(\frac { 5 }{ 8 } \times 1000\) = Rs. 625
Contribution made by other employee
= \(\frac { 3 }{ 8 } \times 1000\) = Rs. 375
2.
Sum of the ratios = 3 + 2 = 5
Semi-perimeter = Length + Breadth = 50 m
\(\therefore\) Length = \(\frac { 3 }{ 5 } \times 50\) = 30 m
Breadth = \(\frac { 2 }{ 5 } \times 50\) = 20 m
3.
6 : 14
4.
4 : 3
5.
Given,30% of Zuben's house area= 40% of Seema's house area
\(\therefore\)Required ratio of Zuben's house to Seema's house \(=\frac{4}{3}=4:3\)
6.
Cost of 3 dozen pens = Rs.72
Cost of 1 dozen pens \(=\frac{72}{3}=Rs.24\)
\(\therefore\) Cost of 2 dozen pens = 2 x 24 = Rs.48
7.
We have,10 g:40 g \(=\frac{10}{40}=1:4\)
and 25 kg: 100 kg \(=\frac{25}{100}=1:4\)
So, they are in proportion.
8.
100C
9.
10
10.
Rs.64
11.
20
12.
8: 7
13.
4: 15
14.
Given, ratio = 3 : 5, firstly multiply and divide the numerator and denominator with the same number.
\(\frac{3}{5}=\frac{3\times2}{5\times2}=\frac{6}{10}\ and\ \frac{3}{5}=\frac{3\times3}{5\times3}=\frac{9}{15},\) hence two equivalent rati.os of 3: 5 are 6 : 10 and 9: 15.
15.
Given that, number of boys = 40 and number of girls = 80
Ratio of number of boys to the number of girls \(=\frac{Number\ of\ boys}{Number\ of\ girls}=\frac{40}{80}=\frac{1}{2}=1:2\)
