The low temperature recorded = -2°F
Difference = 90°F - (-2°F)
= 90°F + (Additive inverse of -2°F)
= 90°F + (+2°F) = 92°F

Position of submarine = -450 ft.
Again it descends 300 feet = -300 feet
\(\therefore\) New position = -450 + (-300) = -750 ft.
\(\therefore\) It was 750 feet below sea level.

Years in AD(CE) are taken as positive integers and BC(BCE) as negative integers.
Therefore, the difference is
= 1687 – (–323)
= 1687 + 323 = 2010 years
