3.
(i) \( =\sqrt{8 \times 5}-\sqrt{4 \times 5} =\sqrt{4 \times 2 \times 5}-\sqrt{4 \times 5} \)
\( =2 \sqrt{2 \times 5}-2 \sqrt{5} \)
\( =2 \sqrt{2} \times \sqrt{5}-2 \sqrt{5} \)
\( =2 \times 2.236(1.414-1) \)
\( =4.472 \times 0.414 =1.852 \)
(ii) \(\sqrt{300}+\sqrt{90}-\sqrt{8}=\sqrt{3\times100}+\sqrt{9\times10}+\sqrt{4\times2}\)
\(=10\sqrt{3}+3\sqrt{10}+2\sqrt{2}\)
= 10\(\times\)1.732 + 3\(\times\)3.162 + 2\(\times\)1.414
= 17.32 + 9.486 + 2.828 = 23.978
