(i) In mitosis one parent cell divides into two identical daughter cells, each with a nucleus having the same amount of DNA, same number of chromosomes and genes as the parent cells. It is therefore called as equational division.
(ii) Meiosis is called reduction division because the chromosome number is reduced to haploid (n) from diploid (2n) in the daughter cells.

(i) Connective tissue has a intercellular substance known as matrix, connective tissue cells and fibres. The main function is supporting and binding different organs of the body.
(ii) Blood contains a fluid matrix called plasma in which different types of cells such as erythrocytes, leucocytes and platelets are found. It is the maincirculating fluid which transports substances between various organs of the body. Thus blood is a connective tissue.

It is in metaphase stage. The duplicated chromosomes arrange on the equatorial plane and form the metaphase plate. Each chromosome gets attached to a spindle fibre by its centromere.

Lymph is a colourless fluid filtered out of the blood capillaries. It consists of plasma and white blood cells. It mainly helps in the exchange of materials between blood and tissue fluids. Therefore it is called as middle man between tissue cells and blood.

(i) Dense connective tissue is a fibrous connective tissue densely packed with fibres and fibroblasts. It is the prinicpal component of tendon and ligaments.
(ii) Tendons consist of parallel bundles of collagen fibres between which are present rows of fibroblasts.
(iii) Ligaments are highly elastic structures and contain very little matrix.
