Plants require water to carry out photosynthesis and other processes. Cells of roots are in close contact with soil and so they actively take up ions. The ion-concentration increases inside the root and hence, osmotic pressure increases resulting in the movement of water from soil into the roots and this process occurs continuously.
However, this pressure by itself is unable to move water to the highest points of plant body. For this, plants use another strategy known as transpiration.
Evaporation of water molecules from the cells of leaf creates a suction which pulls water from the xylem of roots to leaves.
The continuous flow of water in root xylem is due to transpirational pull.
The water which is lost through the stomata is replaced by water from the xylem vessels.
Thus, transpiration helps in absorption and upward movement of water and minerals dissolved in soil from roots to leaves.

The blood circulation in human heart is called double circulation because the blood passes through the heart twice in one complete cycle of the body-once through the right half in the form of deoxygenated blood and once through the left half in the form of oxygenated blood.

Aquatic organisms like fishes obtain oxygen from water present in dissolved state through their gills. Since the amount of dissolved oxygen is fairly low compared to the amount of oxygen in the air, the rate of breathing in aquatic organisms is much faster than that seen in terrestrial organisms.

Gastric glands in stomach release hydrochloric acid, enzyme pepsin and mucus. Mucus protects the inner lining of stomach from the action of hydrochloric acid and enzyme pepsin. If muscus is not released, it will lead to erosion of inner lining of stomach, leading to acidity and ulcers.

Most of the carbon dioxide released during respiration exits from the plant cells through various openings. The plant cells through various openings. The carbon dioxide, required for photosynthesis is taken through stomata. So, even if a plant keeps on taking in oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide during the day, it does not mean that no photosynthesis is happening in the plant.

The plant which is kept in continuous light would live longer. The plant which is kept in the dark is unable to carry out photosynthesis and hence the container within a short span of time. Lack of oxygen in the container would kill the plant. On the other hand, the plant being kept in light would be able to carry out photosynthesis and thus would be able to convert the carbon dioxide into oxygen. Hence this plant would live for a longer duration.

The non-availability of bile in small intestine will affect digestion of fat as it cannot be emulsified and enzyme lipase will not act on fat effectively.

Digestive enzymes help to breakdown of large and insoluble food molecules into small soluble molecules, e.g.enzyme, amylase breaks down starch and enzyme, trypsin breaks down proteins.

Some of the methods employed by plants to get rid of excretory products are as follows
(i) Gaseous wastes (i.e. carbon dioxide and oxygen) are removed through stomata in leaves and lenticels in stems into the atmosphere.
(ii) Plants get rid of excess water by transpiration.
(iii) Some waste products are stored as resins and gums.
(iv) Plants also excrete some waste substances into the soil around them.
(v) Waste products may be stored in leaves, bark or any other plant part, which fall off.
