The cell consists of a carbon rod present of the centre of the zinc container. By the side, metal cup present is positive terminal and opposite to that is a metal disc which is of negative terminal.

A device which is used to close or open a circuit is known as-switch, so when we open the switch, there exists an air gap which does not allow the current to pass through it. On the other hand, when it is closed, then there is not any existence of air gap between the wires and therefore in this way, it conducts electricity.

The complete circuit diagram so that-the bulb glows is given below

The possible reasons for not functioning of torch may be
(i) The torch bulb may be fused.
(ii) The cell may be discharged.
(iii) The connecting wires may be broken up

To complete the circuit, we must join the one end of the wire with the free end of cell. The other end of wire must be connected with the bulb. Now, the bulb will glow.

Since, the bulb is connected with the cell directly at one terminal and other terminal is connected with the negative of the cell with a wire. So, bulb will glow.

Materials used in the electric circuit should be good conductors of electricity that allow electricity to pass through them such as metals (aluminium, copper, iron, etc).

To avoid electric shocks, we should use plastic gloves for operating electrical devices.

In order to close or open the electrical circuit, the electric switch is used.

An electric torch is a device which is used as a lamp. It has two or more than two cells, a bulb and a switch.

So, when we slide the switch of electric torch, circuit becomes complete and bulb starts glowing, while on sliding switch back, circuit gets broken and bulb goes OFF.
