When people and communities are made aware about earthquake's causes and effect, they prepare themselves beforehand. That saves their lives as well as valuables and properties and reduces the damage. People can be ready to volunteer and cope up with the after-effects.

I would conduct fun activities including games and story-telling sessions to cheer-up the children who had witnessed the earthquake.

It is better to stay in the games field rather than move to another place.

If an earthquake strikes while going homes from school, the student should try to rush to an open ground or area away from high-rise buildings, towers etc.

Students should refer their area's zonal map and try to identify their place where they live in.

Applying pressure with cotton and bandage is very effective in preventing bleeding from a wounded arm.

When entering a building which has been cracked or collapsed because of an earthquake, one should keep away from unconsolidated items and walls, keep in mind the possibility of aftershocks and rush outside with the survivor as quickly as he can.

Seismograph is an earthquake sensitive detection or an instrument used for recording the intensity and duration of seismic waves. It is usually kept at the geological center.

Ham Radio or Amateur radio is basically a social hobby and a radio communication service provider in which the users which are called hams must pass an examination in order to operate this.
People get connected with Ham radio whether they are in remote, obscure locations or trapped during a disaster.
Ham radio operators are allowed to use every mode of communication: AM, FM, CW, SSB and so on, worldwide.
Amateur radio includes a vast array of activities like:
• Talking around the world without wires.
• Talking locally through repeaters.
• Emergency communications.
• Public service communications.
• Amateur radio satellites in space and so on.
• According to an estimation, six million people are regularly involved with ham radio, worldwide.

When a person has lost everything in a disaster (like an earthquake etc) and undergoes a severe emotional shock and pain caused by extremely upsetting experience which is called trauma', then the person needs 'trauma counselling which means a short-term intervention. It is appropriate for such people who are suffering traumatic incidents like joblessness, death, car accident, illness and facing a disaster. Trauma counselling supports people in identifying and coming to terms with the feeling and emotions one may feel during and after a traumatic experience.

• In the event of an earthquake, use the drop, cover and hold method to protect yourself.
• If living in a high-rise building, you must protect your head with arms and wear a helmet for safety.
• Move to open fields.
• If you are driving a vehicle, pull over to the side of the road and stop and get out of the car.
• Move away from flyovers, power lines and advertisement boards.

• Do not stay near unstable objects like fans, windows, mirrors as they may shatter and cause injury.
• Do not stand near buildings, trees, poles, towers etc.
