Democracy depends on active political participation by all the citizens. Other forms of Government like monarchy, dictatorship, or one party rule do not require all citizens to take part in politics. In democracy the fate of the country depends not just what the rulers do but also on the actions of the citizens.

The government which is not elected by the people based on universal adult franschise and have no right to change it. The different types of non-democratic governments are Dictatorship and Monarchy.

Under democratic government political equality is given importance.

Some features of nondemocratic countries are:
(i) Citizen does not have the right to elect the government 
(ii) There is an absence of freedom and right to protest, criticise and oppose the government.

Democracy is a form of government in which the rulers are elected by the people. The word democracy comes from a Greek word demokratia. In Greek 'demos' means people and 'kratia' means rule. So democracy is rule by the people.

All democratic countries give their citizens the right to strike. It is democratic.

Army rule is always undermocratic. Under this system, people do not enjoy freedom of speech and expression and are not allowed to critise the government. Military rule is another name for dictatorship. Moreover, many armymen are not disciplined and are corrupt.

(a) A party called PRI (Institutional Revolutionary Party) won every election.Opposition parties did not have any chance to win election
(b) The PRI used all kind of manipulations and employed dirty tricks to win elections
(c) Government, servant and teachers were forced to influence voters
(d) There was no independent media
(e) Sometimes the polling booths were shifted from one place to another in the last minute,which made it difficult for people to cast their votes.
(f) The PRI spent a large sum of money in the campaign for its candidates
(g) People seemed to really have a choice but in practise, they had no choice and could not he change to ruling party.Therefore, this type of election cannot be called fair election.

The system of electoral practise in China is non-democratic.The people don't have real choice in electing the candidates

2. Before contesting election,a candidate needs the approval of the Chinese Communist Party.
3. Only those who are members of the Chinese Communist party or eight smaller parties.
