E-Commerce has some limitations. The following are the major drawbacks of E-Commerce for a business organisation.
(i) People won't buy all products online: There are certain products like high price jewels, clothes or furnishings which people might not like to buy online.
(ii) Quality checking is not possible in E-Commerce.
(iii) Competition and Corporate vulnerability: Open Internet has paved way to all business firms to operate in the global market. The competitors may access product details, catalogs, and other information about a business through its website and makes it vulnerable. E.g.: Web harvesting.
(iv) Security: Security remains to be a problem for E-Commerce. As lot of cyber frauds takes place in E-Commerce transactions, people generally afraid to provide their personal information.
(v) Customer loyalty: Business cannot survive long without loyal customers. Customers get the best deal over website. They cannot be loyal to a particular seller.
(vi) In E-Commerce, the interaction between the business and the consumer is "screen-to-face". Customers feel uncared for insufficient personal attention.
(vii) Shortage of skilled employees: E-Commerce has difficulty in recruiting, training and retaining talented people. There is a great shortage of skilled employees.
(viii) Size and value of transactions: The delivery cost of a pen surpasses the cost of pen itself.
(ix) E-Commerce is most often conducted using credit card for payments, and as a result very small and very large transactions tend not to be conducted online.

(i) Access to Global Market: The Internet spans the world of E-Commerce, and it is possible to trade with any business or a person who is connected with the Internet. It helps to access the global marketplace.
(ii) Lower Transaction Cost: E-Commerce reduces the cost of business transactions substantially. For instance, significant number of customer service representatives in a bank can be reduced by using net-banking.
(iii) 24X7 working: A website is open all 24 hours, 7 days in a week. E-Commerce could simultaneously provide information about its products and services to customers around the clock and eventually
take orders, keep an eye on delivery of goods and receive payments at any time.
(iv) Low cost of entry: Internet has changed the face of E-Commerce. The Internet is all about democratization. Today, E-Commerce is common for retailers to move their traditional store to online with very less add-on only for building a good website.
(v) Computer platform-independent: Most computers have the ability to communicate via the Internet, irrespective of operating systems and hardware. Consumer not required to upgrade their computer to work in E-Commerce.
(vi) E-Commerce applications can be more efficiently developed and distributed because they are platform independent. Internet's altruism helps E-Commerce.
(vii) Snapping-Middleman: E-Commerce enjoys the benefit of by passing middle-men and Reaching the end customer directly through Internet.
(viii) In B2C E-Commerce business firms establish a direct contact with their customers by eliminating middlemen.
(ix) It helps to increase the sales of the organization without any interventions.
(x) This results in cheaper price for consumers and higher profit margins for the companies.

(i) E-Commerce always profits from innovations and successful businesses quickly identify developing opportunities in emerging new technology, and expand their commercial capabilities.
(ii) Recent ways of buying or selling goods and services have come up with technology irnovations.
(iii) In future commercial activities such as buying or selling of goods between merchant and consumer will be bygone and forgoften like barter system.
(iv) The Internet and technology have changed the way that commerce is conducted.
(v) E-Commerce is a subset of E-Business and is nothing but commercial transaction through Internet.
(vi) E-Commerce is limited with monetary transactions using Internet.

(ix) It could be a consumer based retail sites or auction sites or trade between large business organizations.
(x) The commodity could be a laptop or a wrist watch or it could be an operating system or a simple browser plugin. The goods, information or services are delivered in tangible or electronic form.

(iii) The doubts about the period of returning, will the returned goods reach source in time, refunds, exchange, and postage make one tiresome.
(iv) Privacy issues are serious in E-Commerce.
(v) In E-Commerce generating consumer information is inevitable. Not all the companies use the personal information they obtained to improve services to consumers.
(vi) Many companies misuse the information and make money out of it.
(vii) It is true that privacy concerns are a critical reason why people get cold feet about online shopping Physical product disputes are a major disadvantage in E-Commerce.
