Take MCQ Mathematics Test

1.
Construct a line segment \(\bar{AB}\) = 2 cm and \(\bar{PQ}\) = 3 cm. Construct another line segment \(\bar{CD}\) such that length of \(\bar{CD}\) is half the product of lengths of \(\bar{AB}\) and \(\bar{PQ}\). Measure \(\bar{CD}\).
2.
Draw a circle with radius 3 cm and a circle with same centre and diameter 6 cm. What will be relation between the two?
3.
How many circles can you draw
(a) with a given centre O and a point, say P?
(b) through two points, say A and B?
(c) four scattered points?

4.
Construct \(\bar{PQ}\) of length 7 cm. From this cut-off \(\bar{PA}\) of length 3.2 cm. Measure \(\bar{QA}\)
5.
The peculiar number:
There is a number which is very peculiar. This number is three times the sum of its digits. Can you find the number?
6.
Construct with ruler and compasses, angle of the following measures 45o.
7.
Draw a line segment of length 9.5 cm and construct its perpendicular bisector.
8.
If the diameter of a circle is 16 cm, then what will be its radius?
16 cm
10 cm
8 cm
None of these
9.
Which of the following angles can be drawn with the help of a compass?
20°
40°
60°
80
10.
Perpendicular bisector of a line segment
is perpendicular to it
divides it into two equal parts
Both (a) and (b) are true
None of the above
11.
The instrument to draw a circle is
ruler
protractor
divider
compasses
12.
The instrument in the geometry box having the shape of a triangle is called a
protractor
compasses
divider

13.
A diameter of a circle is a chord that ___________ through the centre.
14.
A diameter of a circle is the _________ chord of the circle.
15.
A radius of a circle is a line segment with one end at the ______ and the other end _________.
16.
A chord of a circle is a line segment with its ends point ___________.
17.
The common properties in the two set-squares of a geometry box are that they have a ________ angle and they are of the shape of a ___________.
18.
Two perpendiculars can be drawn to a given line from a point not lying on it.
19.
Only one perpendicular bisector can be drawn to a given line segment.
20.
With ruler and compasses, we can bisect any given line segment.
21.
Infinitely many perpendiculars can be drawn to a given ray.
22.
It is possible to draw two bisectors of a given angles.
23.
In step 2 above, what would happen if we take radius to be smaller than half the length BC?
1.
\(\bar{CD}\) = \(\bar{PQ}\) = 3 cm.
2.
Coincide
3.
(a) We can draw an infinite number of circles passing through one given point, say P.
(b) We can draw an infinite number of circles passing through two given points, A and B.
(c) We cannot always draw a circle through four scattered points.
4.
First of all, we construct a line \(\bar{PQ}\) of length 7 cm.
Step I Place the zero mark of the ruler at P.
Step II Mark a point Q at a distance 7 ern from P.

Step III Mark another point A between P and Q at distance 3.2 cm from P such that PA = 3.2 cm.
Step IV Measure line segment \(\bar{QA}\). We fin4 that \(\bar{QA}\) = 7.0 - 3.2 = 3.8 cm.
5.
Let in the number,
unit's digit = x
and ten's digit = Y
Then, the number = 10y + x
Sum of the digits = x + y
According to the question,
10y + x = 3(x + y)
⇒ 10y + x = 3x + 3y
⇒ 2x=7y
⇒ x =\(\frac{7}{2}\)y
When y =0, x =0, which is impossible. When y = 1, x =\(\frac{7}{2}\), which is impossible. When y= 2, x= 7.
Hence, the required number is 27
6.

On measuring, \(\angle\)COA = 45o.
7.
To construct the perpendicular bisector, we use the following steps:
Step I Draw a line segment \(\bar{AB}\) of length 9.5 cm.
.png)
Step II With A as centre and radius more than half of \(\bar{AB}\), draw a circle.
.png)
Step III With B as centre and same radius draw another circle, which intersects the first circle at C and D, respectively.
.png)
Step IV Join CD, which intersects \(\bar{AB}\) at D.
Then, \(\bar{CD}\) is the required perpendicular bisector of \(\bar{AB}\).
