An electrician buys a used T.V. for Rs. 12,000 and a used Fridge for Rs. 11,000. After spending Rs. 1000 on repairing the T.V. and Rs. 1500 on painting the Fridge, he fixes up the M.P. of T.V. as Rs. 15,000 and that of Fridge as Rs. 15,500. If he gives Rs. 1000 discount on each find his profit or loss.

A man bought 400 metre of cloth for Rs. 60,000 and sold it at the rate of Rs. 400 per metre. Find his profit or loss.

He spent = Rs. 1,000

Discount = Rs. 1,000
c.p Fridge = Rs. 11,000
Painting Charges = Rs. 1,500
= Rs. 12,500
m.p = 15,500
Discount = Rs. 1,000

= 13,000 + 12,500
c.p = Rs. 25,500
m.p = Rs. 15,000 + 15,500 = Rs. 30,500
Discount = Rs. 1,000 + Rs. 1,000 =
= Rs. 2000
Therefore s.p = m.p - Discount
= 30,500 - 2,000 = Rs. 28,500
s.p = Rs. 28,500
Here, s.p > c.p
Therefore profit = s.p - c.p
= 28,500 - 25,500

A man bought the 400 m cloth
c.p = Rs. 60,000
He sold it at the rate of Rs. 400 / metre.
Therefore 1 m = Rs. 400
Therefore 400 mm = Rs. 400 \(\times\) 400 m
s.p = Rs. 1,60,000
Here, s.p > c.p
Therefore profit = s.p - c.p
= Rs. 1,60,000 - Rs. 60,000
Therefore profit = Rs. 1,00,000

Given
Mangai bought a cell phone = Rs. 12585
She spent = Rs. 500
Therefore c.p = Rs. 12585 + Rs. 500
= Rs.13,085
She sold = Rs. 7500
Therefore s.p = Rs. 7500
Here, c.p > s.p
Therefore, loss = Rs. 13,085 - Rs. 7,500
= Rs. 5,585.

If the man bought 75 Mangoes for Rs. 300 then, Cost Price of 1 Mango = 300/75 = Rs. 4
If 50 Mangoes were sold for Rs. 300 then, Selling Price of 1 Mango is 300/50 = Rs. 6
\(\therefore\) Selling price of 75 Mangoes at the rate of Rs 6 is 75 \(\times\) 6 = Rs. 450
Selling Price > Cost Price
\(\therefore\) Profit = Selling Price - Cost Price = 450 - 300 = Rs. 150

C.P. = Rs. 55,000
Profit = Rs. 5,500
Profit = S.P. - C.P.
\(\Rightarrow\) Rs. 5,500 = S.P. - Rs. 55,000
\(\Rightarrow\) S.P.= Rs. 5,500 + Rs. 55,000 = Rs. 60,500
