Given
Lunch Break = 1 hour
From 10 a.m. to 5.45 p.m = 12.00 - 10:00 = 2.00 + 5.45 = 7.45
lunch break - 1.00 = 6.45
Also given, the post office works for 6 days a week.
Total duration of working hours in a week = 6.45 \(\times\) 6
= 6 hours 45 min \(\times\) 6 = 36 hours 270 minutes
= 270/60 = 4 30/60 = 4 1/2 hr.
= (36 + 4) hours 30 min.
Total Working hours = 40 hours 30 min.
2.
February = 20 days
Again July = 22 days (31 - 9)
Aug = 31 days
Sept = 30 days
Oct = 31 days
Nov = 30 days
Dec = 31 days
Jan = 31 days
Feb = 28 days (2018 ordinary year)
March = 31 days = 285 days
Therefore 285 days he practiced.

\(\frac { 1 }{ 1000 } l=1\ ml\)
6.
weight of a tablet = 650 mg
\(=650.0\times \frac { 1 }{ 1000 } g\) (1 g = 1000 mg)
(\(\frac { 1 }{ 1000 } \)g = 1 mg)
7.
The average rainfall = 998 mm = 998.0 \(\times \frac { 1 }{ 10 } \) cm

1km = 1000m
Maran Walks = 1.5 km
= 1.5 \(\times\)1000 = 1500m
Mahizhan walks = 1400m
Difference = 1500 - 1400 = 100m
Maran walks more distance and by 100m
13.
Geetha brought = 2 l 250 ml
Her friend drank = 0 300 ml
Remaining water in the bottle = 1 950 = 1 l 950 ml
14.
10 mm = 1 cm
100 cm = 1 m
1000 cm = 1 km
Therefore 10 mm = 1cm
i) 13000 mm = 1 / 10 \(\times\) 13000 = 1300 cm
100 cm = 1 m
1300 cm = 1 / 100 \(\times\) 1300 = 13 m
1000 m = 1 km
13 m = 1 / 1000 \(\times\) 13
= 0.013 km
= 13000 mm
= (0.013 km, 13m, 1300 cm)
(ii) 8257 ml (kl, I)
= 1000 ml = 1l
1000 l= 1 kl
1000 ml = 11
8257 ml = 1 / 1000 \(\times\) 8257
= 8.257 I
1000 1= 1 kl
8.257 I = 1 / 1000 \(\times\) 8.257
= 0.008257 kl
8257 ml (0.008257 kl, 8.257 I)
15.
Time slowed down for 1 hour = 2 minutes
Time slowed down for 11 hours =11 \(\times\) 2 = 22 minutes
So, at 6 p.m the clock slows down by 22 minutes. That means the clock shows 5 hours 38 minutes at 6 p.m.
| Ordinary time | Railway time |
|---|---|
| 6.00 p.m | 18:00 hours |
| 7.00 a.m | 07:00 hours |
| Time duration | 11:00 hours |
16.
| Method-1 | Method-2 |
|---|---|
| Conversion of 6 a.m to Railway time = 06:00 hours Conversion of 4 p.m to Railway time = (4+12) hours = 16:00 hours Time duration between 6 a.m and 4 p.m = The difference between 16 hours and 6 hours = 16 hours - 6 hours = 10 hours |
= 6 hours + 4 hours = 10 hours |
