The ratio of the price, of tables bought by Anbu and Madhavi
\(=900:750={900\over 750}\Rightarrow {900\div 150\over 750\div 150}={6\over5}=6:5\)
This is the ratio in the simplest form.
16.
Step 1: Write the ratio in fraction form as\(20\over 5\).
Step 2: Divide each quantity by 5. That is, \({20\div 5\over 5\div 5}={4\over1}=4:1\)
This is the ratio in the simplest form.
17.
7 : 15
Fraction = \(\frac {7 \div 1}{15 \div 1}=\frac{7}{15}\)
Simplest form = 7 : 15
18.
32 : 24
Fraction = \(\frac { 32 }{ 24 } =\frac { 32\div 8 }{ 24\div 8 } =\frac { 4 }{ 3 } \)
Simplest form = 4 : 3
19.
In 40 minutes, electricity used = 3 units.
In 1 minute, electricity used =\(3\over 40\) units.
In 120 minutes (2 hours), electricity used = \({3\over 40} \times\)120 = 9 units
Thus, the heater consumed 9 units of electricity in 2 hours.
20.
Yes, 12 : 24 : : 18: 36
Because product of extremes = 12 x 36 = 432
Product of means = 24 x 18 = 432
∴ 12 : 24 : : 18 : 36.
21.
Here the extremes are 3 and 20 and the means are 2 and 30.
Product of extremes, ad = 3 × 20 = 60.
Product of means, bc = 2 × 30 = 60.
Thus by proportionality law, we find ad = bc and hence 3 : 2 and 30 : 20 are in proportion.
22.
27 in the ratio 4: 5.
Dividing 27 into 4 + 5 = 9 equal parts, and
\(27\times\frac{4}{9}=12\)
\(27\times\frac{5}{9}=15\)
\(\therefore\) The numbers are 12, 15
23.
20 in the ratio 3 : 2
Dividing 20 into 3 + 2 = 5 equal parts, then
\(20\times\frac{3}{5}=12\)
\(20\times\frac{2}{5}=8\)
\(\therefore\) The required answer is 12, 8
24.
\(1:2=\frac{1}{2}\)
\(2:1=\frac{2}{1}\times\frac{2}{2}=\frac{4}{2}\)
Here \(\frac{4}{2}\) larger than \(\frac{1}{2}\)
\(\therefore\) 2 : 1 larger than 1: 2
25.
Ratio of red beads: blue beads = 35: 30
Fraction of 35 : 30 \(=\frac{35}{30}\)
= 7:6
Also given that the bracelet made is smaller in size
∴ The possible ways are red beads: blue beads
The equivalent ways are
\(
\frac{7 \times 2}{6 \times 2}=\frac{14}{12}=14: 12
\)
\( \frac{7 \times 3}{6 \times 3}=\frac{21}{18}=21: 18
\)
\( \frac{7 \times 4}{6 \times 4}=\frac{28}{24}=28: 24\)
= 7 : 6 (or) 14: 12 (or) 21 : 18 (or) 28 : 24
In 4 different way can she made.
26.
The ratio of Golden Gate Bridge & Its model are = 6480 : 756 and 60 : 7
Product of extremes = 6480 \(\times\) 7 = 45,360
Product of means = 756 \(\times\) 60 = 45,360
Product of extremes = Product of means
∴ The model is in proportion to the ordinal bridge.
