Gardening shears bought for Rs 250 and sold for Rs 325.
1.
Given, 250 tickets of Rs 400 were sold.
\(\therefore\)SP of 250 tickets = 250 x Rs 400 = Rs100000
\(\because\) 500 tickets of Rs 100 were sold.
\(\therefore\) SP of 500 tickets = 500 x Rs100 = Rs 50000
Tax on Rs 400 ticket is 40%.
So, tax amount = 40% of Rs100000 =\({40\over100}\times Rs100000\)
=Rs40000
Tax on Rs 100 ticket is 20%.
So, tax amount = 20% of Rs 50000
\({20\over100}\times Rs50000 =Rs10000\)
Total entertainment tax collected
= Rs(40000 + 10000) = Rs 50000
Hence, Rs 50000 as entertainment tax was collected from the programme .
It is a good idea to impose entertainment tax on some special types of entertainment programmes and get money from tax.

Given, ratio of blended two varieties of tea
(green tea: lemon tea) = 5 : 4
Cost of green tea = Rs 200 per kg
Cost of lemon tea = Rs 300 per kg
SP of blended tea = Rs 275 per kg
According to the ratio,
Let green tea be 5x kg and lemon tea be 4x kg.
So, cost of green tea = 5x x 200 = Rs 1OOOx
Cost of lemon tea = 4x x 300 =Rs 1200x
Total CP = Rs(1OOOx+ 1200x) = Rs 2200x
Total quantity = (4x + 5x) kg = 9x kg
So, for 9x kg
\(\therefore\) SP of blended tea = Rs 275 x 9x Rs SP = Rs 2475x
\(\because\)CP
Profit = Rs(2475x - 2200x) = Rs 275x
Profit % =\({profit\over CP}\times100={275x\over2200x}\times100={275\over22}=12.5\%\)
Hence, there is 12.5% profit on blended tea (new variety).
The merchant has very innovative tea for boosting tea market with a special flavour of tea, which gives customer many health benefits.

Rate of interest for each year = 12% per annum
Time period = 1yr
Interest received after 1 yr = \(500000\times 12 \times 1 \over 100\)
= 5000 x 12 = Rs 60000
scholarship amount for second position = Rs 20000

\(\therefore\) Remaining amount for first position student
= 60000 - (20000 + 15000)
= 60000 - 35000 = Rs 25000

\(x={5000\over 110}\times100={50000\over11}=Rs.4545.45\)
10% loss on other radio i,e, \( {90\over100}\times x =5000\)
\( x={5000\times100\over 90}={50000\over 9}=Rs5555.55\)
Total cost price = Rs 4545.45 + Rs 5555.55 = Rs 10101
Loss = Total cost price - Total selling price
=Rs 10101- Rs10000=Rs 101
[\(\because\) Total selling price = 2 x 5000 = 10000]
\(\therefore\)\(Loss \%={Loss\over cost \ price}\times 100\)
\(={101\over10101}\times 100={10100\over10101}=10\%\)
Hence, 10% loss in the whole transactions.

Sum of the parts = 10 + 3 + 12 = 25
\(\therefore\)Percentage of carbon in chalk stick
\(=\left({Part \ of \ carbon \ in \ chalk \ stick \over Total \ part \ of \ chalk}\times100\right)\%\)
\(=\left({3\over25}\times100\right)\%=(3\times4)\%=12\%\)
Hence, the percentage of carbon in a chalk stick is 12%.
(ii) Let the weight of the chalk stick be x g.
Now, weight of carbon = 3 g (which is 12% of chalk)
\(\therefore\) 12% of \( x =3 \Rightarrow {12\over100}\times x=3\)
\(\Rightarrow x={3\times100 \over12}=25g\)
Hence, the weight of the chalk stick is 25 g.

Given, CP of a TV = Rs 10000; Profit per cent = 20%
\(\therefore \) Profit = 20% of CP of a TV
=\(20\over100\) X 10000 = 20 X 100 = Rs 2000

=Rs12000
Hence, I got Rs 12000 on selling a TV.
