Private Health Services are those which are privately owned and controlled. There are large number of private health facilities in our country because many doctors run their own private clinics. There are RMPs in rural areas and specialised doctors in urban areas. A number of privately owned hospitals, nursing homes, laboratories, medical shops are also there in urban areas. In private services, people have to pay a lot of money for their treatment.

Public healthcare services are known as 'public' because
(i) resources required to run these centres are obtained from the general public in a way of taxes: So, these facilities are meant for everyone.
(ii) they provide quality services either free of cost or at very low cost.
(iii) their function is to prevent spread of diseases such as T8, malaria, jaundice, etc.

Yes, it is government is trying to do this. But till today our government is not fully successful due to lack of funds.

In India, there are more private services rather than public services. There are countless doctors and private clinics run for profit motive in the urban areas. They provide specialised services. There are many laboratories that do tests and offer facilities like X-ray, ultrasound, etc. Today all these services are run by big companies which in turn also run many businesses related to these private centres such as medical shops, etc.

After reading the above column, I don't think it is true.
The reasons for the same are
India has the largest number of medical colleges in the world.
Number of hospitals is increasing constantly.
Foreigners come to India for treatment.
India ranks fourth in production of medicines.

Costa Rica is considered one of the healthiest countries in South America.
The government here took an approach of not having an army and instead allotting its money for health, education and other basic amenities.
People were provided with safe drinking water, sanitation, nutrition and housing facilities. Health education was considered significant as knowledge about health was important at all levels. According to Costa Rican Government, a country can develop only when its people are healthy. Thus, they paid significant attention to the health of the people.

Kerala Government has made efforts to provide adequate healthcare to its people. In 1996, the State Government gave its 40% budget to the Panchayats in order to provide better facilities and check the existing ones. Problems such as water supply schemes, specific problems of village were taken up. Proper planning was done for betterment of people. Safe water, food, women's, development and education were provided health centres were improved. Working of schools and anganwadis was ensured. All other problems were checked though some problems are there which have to be addressed.
