(a) Primary sex organs. The organs which produce gametes are called primary sex organs.Testes in male and ovaries in case of female are primary sex organs as they produce sperms (male gametes) and ova (female gametes) respectively.
(b) Secondary sex organs. Organs which perform important functions in reproduction but neither produce gametes nor secrete sex hormones are called secondary sex organs.e,g. Prostate, seminal vesicles, vas deferens and penis in male and the fallopian tube, uterus, vagina, and mammary glands in female.
(c) Accessory or external sex characters. These are the distinct structures or characters which distinguish sexes of a species in appearance but do not directly play any role in reproduction. Low pitch and high pitch of man and woman and pattern of facial hair distribution are the examples of accessory or external sex characters.

The function of the uterus is to house the baby and provide nourishment to it for about nine months.

(i) It facilitates the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the embryo.
(ii) It aids in the removal of carbon dioxide and waste materials produced by the foetus.
(ii) The placenta is connected to the embryo through the umbilical cord, which helps in the transport of substances to and from the embryo
(iv) Placenta also acts as an endocrine tissue and produces several hormones like human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG), human Placental Lactogen (hPL), oestrogen, progestogens, etc.

The FSH and testosterone are the hormones that enter into the testies where they stimulate the Sertoli cells.
