These printers do not use striking mechanism for printing. They use electrostatic or laser technology. Quality and speed of these printers are better than Impact printers. For example, Laser printers and Inkjet printers are non-impact printers.

Cold Booting	Warm Booting
When the system starts from initial state i.e. it is switched on, we call it cold booting or Hard Booting. When the user presses the Power button, the instructions are read from the ROM to initiate the booting process.	When the system restarts or when Reset button is pressed, we call it Warm Booting or Soft Booting. The system does not start from initial state and so all diagnostic tests need not be carried out in this case. There are chances of data loss and system damage as the data might not have been stored properly.

 

Monitor:
(a) A computer monitor is an output device which displays information in pictorial form.

Impact printers:
(i) Impact printer refers to the class of printers that work by banging a head or needle against an ink ribbon to make a mark on the paper.
(ii) Impact printers are very noisy.
(iii) These printers can print on multi-part.

The three output devices are

(i) Plotter:
Plotter is an Output device that is used to produce graphical Output on papers. It uses single colour or multi-colour pens to draw pictures.
(ii) Speakers:
Speakers produce voice output (audio). Using speaker along with speech synthesize software, the computer can provide voice output.
(iii) Multimedia Projector:
Multimedia projectors are used to produce computer output on a big screen. These are used to display presentations in meeting halls or in classrooms.

Input Device:
It is a peripheral device used to provide data and control signals to an information processing system. Eg: Keyboard, Mouse, Scanners, Digital cameras, Joysticks.

Applications of Computer: Banking, Insurance, Education, Marketing, Health care, Engineering design, Communication, Government, Weather forecasting.
