(i) his dividend for the first year
(ii) his annual income in the second year
(iii) The percentage increase in his return on his original investment
1.
Market value of 325 shares
= No. of. shares x M.V of 1 share
= 62 x 132 = Rs. 8184
2.
Let x be the number of shares.
Face value of ‘x’ shares = Rs. 25 x
Now \(\frac{10}{100}\times 25x=Rs. 2,000\)
\(\Rightarrow x=\frac{2000\times 100}{25\times 10}=800\)
Hence the number of shares = 800
3.
Face value of a share = Rs. 100
Premium per share = Rs. 18
M.V. of a share = Rs. 118
Market value of 325 shares = number of shares × M.V of a share
= 325 × 118 = Rs. 38,350
Therefore market value of 325 shares is Rs. 38,350.
4.
a = 50, i = \(\frac{5}{100}\) = .05
A = \(\cfrac { a }{ i } =\cfrac { 50 }{ 0.05 } \) Rs.1000
5.
Here a = 9,000 and i = 0.15
p = \(\frac{a}{i}\)
= \(\frac{9000}{0.15}\)
= \(\frac{9,00,000}{15}\)
= 60,000
Therefore the amount to be deposited is Rs. 60,000.
6.
a = Rs.1500; i = 12/100 = 0.12
P = \(\frac { a }{ i } =\frac { 1500 }{ 0.12 } \) = Rs.12,500
The person has to deposit Rs.12,500 to meet this expense.
7.
Let the number of shares be x.
Dividend = No.of shares x F.V x Rate percentage.
1620 = \(x \times 20 \times \frac { 9 }{ 100 } \)
x = \(\frac { 1620\times 100 }{ 20\times 9 } \) = 900 shares
8.
Market value of one share = 25 - 7 = 18
Market value of 125 shares = 125 x 18
= Rs. 2250
9.
Number of shares = 500
Face value of a share = Rs. 100
Discount = Rs. 14
Market value of a share = 100 – 14 = Rs. 86 (face value – discount)
Market value of 500 shares = Number of shares × market value of a share
= 500 × 86 = 43,000
Market value of 500 shares = Rs. 43,000
10.
\(\text {(i) Number of shares }=\frac{\text { Investment }}{M \cdot V}\)
\(=\frac{8000}{80}=100\)
\(\text {Amount of dividend }=100 \times 100 \times \frac{7}{100}= 700\)
\(\text {(ii) SP of } 100 \text { shares }=75 \times 100= 7500\)
\(\text {Investment }=\mathrm{SP}+\text { Dividend }\)
\(=7500+700= 8200\)
\(\text {Income }=\frac{\text { Investment }}{\mathrm{M} . \mathrm{V}} \times \mathrm{FV} \times \text { Rate of dividend }\)
\(=\frac{8200}{41} \times 25 \times \frac{18}{100}= 900 \text {. }\)
\(\text {(iii) Increase in his return }=900-700\)
\(\text { = } 200\)
\(\% \text { of increase in return }=\frac{\text { Increase in return }}{\text { Investment }} \times 100\)
\(=\frac{200}{8000} \times 100=2.5 \% \)
