Impress is OpenOffice.org's presentations (slideshow) module. You can create slides using Impress It contains different elements like text, bulleted and numbered lists, tables, charts, clip art and a range of graphics objects. Impress has access to the spelling checker and thesaurus. Also, it comes with prepackaged text styles, background styles with online help.

Changing font:
(i) Choose format styles and formatting or press F11.
(ii) Select the style category by clicking on either the presentation styles icon or the Graphic Style icon at the top of the style and formatting window.
(iii) Right - Click on style to be modified and select modify from the pop menu.

While rehearing, use the slide Timing feature to record the time that needed to present each slide and then use the recorded time to advance the slides automatically when the presentation shows to actual audience. Slide Sorter view shows a thumbnail of each slide in order. Use this view to rearrange the order of slides, produce a timed slide show, or add transitions between selected slides.
Significance :
(i) Slide sorter view provides the user with the ability to select several slides at one time.
(ii) Once selected, transitions or other effects can be applied to the slides with fewer keystrokes than if the slides were displayed individually.
(iii) In addition to slide sorter view, power point, allows normal and slide show views.
(iv) Slide show view presents slides one at a time in full screen format, similar to the finished presentation.

(i) Sales persons need to give presentation to their customers clients and managers.
(ii) Human Resource departments use the presentation to provide training to new staff.
(iii) In schools, teachers can better explain concepts by the means of presentation.

(v) The presentation software is mostly used during seminars, conferences. This helps the presenter easily project his key points on a large screen while talking about the topic simultaneously.

There are 5 types of views are provided by Impress.
They are
(i) Normal view: Normal view is the main view for creating individual slides.
(ii) Outline view : Outline view shows topic titles, bulleted lists and numbered lists for each slide in outline format.
(iii) Notes view: Notes view lets you add notes to each slide that are not seen when the presentation is shown.
(iv) Slide Sorter view : Slide Sorter view shows a thumbnail of each slide in order.
(v) Handout view : Handout view lets you print your slides for a handout.
