1.
a) Capital Loss:
The loss which is not incurred in the normal course of business is capital loss. Generally a part of it is written off over the years by transferring to profit and loss account.
Examples:
(i) Discount on issue of shares
(ii) Discount on issue of debentures
(iii) Loss incurred prior to incorporation
b) Revenue Loss:
The loss which is incurred in the normal course of business is revenue loss. It should be transferred to profit and loss account.
Examples:
(i) Loss on sale of goods
(ii) Loss of stock by theft, fire etc.

Revenue profit is the Profit which arises from the normal course of the business. i.e., Net profit the excess of revenue receipts over revenue expenditure.
3.
(i) Receipts which is not revenue in nature is called capital receipt. It is non-recurring in nature.
(ii) The amount received is normally substantial. It is shown on the liabilities side of the balance sheet.
Examples:
1) Proceeds of sale of fixed assets.
2) Receipt of special donations.

1) Preliminary expenses
2) Cost of issue of shares and debentures
5.
(i) It is recurring in nature.
(ii) It is incurred for maintaining the earning capacity of the business.
(iii) Its benefit is exhausted within a year
(iv) It is shown on the debit side of the trading and profit and loss account.
