Retailing on large-scale brings advantages such as economics of bulk purchase, advertising, sales, overhead expenses and management, etc.

Teleshopping means shopping done through televisions, computers with internet. Small retail shop owners who have points of sale (POS) and Back Office Computer Systems provide shopping facilities to the customers. The customers connect their personal computers to them through the internet.

Chain store system is the other name of Multiple shop system. The Americans call it as 'chain stores'. According to Clark and Clark, "a chain store system consists of a number of retail stores which sell similar products, are centrally owned and are operated under one management".As huge capital is required, these stores are organized and managed in the form of a joint stock company.

The internet is an international network of computers. It is a global collection of high powered computers that are connected to each other with network cables, telephone lines, microwave dishes.satellites, etc.

The full name of E-Commerce is electronic commerce. It is a paperless exchange of business information using network-based technologies. Through E-Commerce commercial activities like marketing, selling, delivering, servicing and payments are made through electronic commerce.
