Given x²+2|x| - 8 = 0
Here a = 1, b = 2, c = -8
∴ |x|²+2|x|-8 = 0      (∵ |x|² = x²)
∴ |x| = \(\frac { -2\pm \sqrt { 4=32 } }{ 2 } \)
⇒ |x| = \(\frac { -2\pm \sqrt { 4+32 } }{ 2 } \)
