Since poor and small nations need more international help for their development, their voice must be heard with equal respect. The enjoyment of veto power by 5 permanent members of the Security Council of V.N.O. is undemocratic since anyone of these countries can stall any decision. It means that the council cannot take a decision if any permanent member says 'no' to that decision. Some other international organisations like IMF (International Monetary Fund) and World Bank also are not working on democratic principles.

No, it is not good to elect a President for life. In that case, there will always be the likelihood of his becoming a dictator and run the administration according to his own will.
It is better to elect a new President after every few years. In that case, the President will feel responsible to the people and will work for their welfare.

(a) One of basic principles of democracy is Universal Adult Franchise. However, in early days of the expansion of democracy, all the citizens were not given the right to vote. In most of the countries women were not given voting rights.
The main reason for this was that women in most of the countries were themselves not interested in it. They preferred to do household work and did not want to be involved in politics. But with the spread of education and political awakening, women started demanding equal political rights and started struggles for it. As a result most of the countries had to concede this demand. In USA women were given the right to vote in 1918 and in UK universal adult franchise was adopted in 1928. Now women have been given voting rights in most of the democratic countries.
(b) By the time India got freedom, the framers of our Constitution firmly believed in giving equal right to all men and women, they adopted the principle of universal adult franchise in their new constitution. In our country, women did not have fight for it.
