Step 1: Draw the ΔABC with the given measures.
Step 2: Construct the perpendicular bisector of any two sides (AB and BC) and let them meet at S which is the circumcenter.

(a+2)2 = 25–16

(a+2) = \(\pm \) 3 (By taking the square root on both side)
a = –2 \(\pm \) 3
a = –2 + 3 (or) a = –2 –3
a = 1 or –5.
