7.
In the concentric circles, chord AB of the outer circle cuts the inner circle at C and D as shown in the diagram. Prove that, AB−CD = 2AC
8.
In a circle, AB and CD are two parallel chords with centre O and radius 10 cm such that AB = 16 cm and CD = 12 cm determine the distance between the two chords?
9.
A chord is 12 cm away from the centre of the circle of radius 15 cm. Find the length of the chord
10.
Find the length of the chord AC where AB and CD are the two diameters perpendicular to each other of a circle with radius 4 √2 cm and also find ㄥOAC and ㄥOCA
11.
Construct an equilateral triangle of side 6cm and locate its centroid and also its incentre. What do you observe from this?
12.
Draw the \(\triangle \)ABC , where AB = 6 cm, B = 110° and AC = 9 cm and construct the centroid.
13.
Construct the ΔLMN such that LM = 7.5cm, MN = 5cm and LN = 8cm. Locate its centroid.
14.
AD is a diameter of a circle and AB is a chord If AD = 30 cm and AB = 24cm then the distance of AB from the centre of the circle is ______.
10cm
9cm
8cm
6cm
15.
If one angle of a cyclic quadrilateral is 75° , then the opposite angle is ________.
100°
105°
85°
90°
16.
In the figure, PQRS and PTVS are two cyclic quadrilaterals, If ㄥQRS = 100°, then ㄥTVS = ______.

7.
Given: Chord AB of the outer circle cuts the inner circle at C and D.
To prove: AB − CD = 2AC
Construction: Draw OM ⊥ AB
Proof: Since, OM ⊥ AB (By construction)
Also, OM ⊥ CD
Therefore, AM = MB ... (1) (Perpendicular drawn from centre to chord bisect it)
CM = MD ... (2)
Now, AB – CD = 2AM–2CM
= 2(AM–CM) from (1) and (2)
AB – CD = 2AC
8.

The distance between two chord FE
= OE + OF
OE = \(\sqrt { { 10 }^{ 2 }-{ 6 }^{ 2 } } =\sqrt { 100-36 } =\sqrt { 64 } =8cm\)
OF = \(\sqrt { { 10 }^{ 2 }-{ 8 }^{ 2 } } \)
= \(\sqrt { 100-64 } \)
= \(\sqrt { 36 } =6cm\)
\(\therefore \) FE = 8 cm + 6 cm = 14 cm
\(\therefore\) Distance between the chords is 14 cm
9.

BD = \(\sqrt { { 15 }^{ 2 }+{ 12 }^{ 2 } } \)
= \(\sqrt { 225-144 } \)
= \(\sqrt { 81 } \)
= 9 cm
\(\therefore\) length of the chord AB = 9 + 9 = 18
10.

\(\triangle \)OAC is an isoceles triangle with one angle 90°
\(\therefore \ \angle OAC+\angle OCA={ 180 }^{ 0 }-{ 90 }^{ 0 }\)
\(2\angle OAC={ 90 }^{ 0 }\) \(\left( \therefore \ \angle OAC=\angle OCACA \right) \)
\(\angle OAC={ 45 }^{ 0 }\)
\(\therefore \angle OAC={ 45 }^{ 0 }\)
Length of the chord =\(\sqrt { \left( 4\sqrt { 2 } \right) ^{ 2 }+\left( 4\sqrt { 2 } \right) ^{ 2 } } \)
=\(\sqrt { 16\times 2+16\times 2 } \)
=\(\sqrt { 64 } =8cm\)
11.
