Rule of law states that all are equal in front of law irrespective of their background,economic status,sex, region,caste and religion.

Rule of majority is democratic as it represents the views of all sections of the people.

To order repoll in a constituency by the Election Commision is democratic whereas rigging is undemocratic

The five features of nondemocratic Pakistan under General Musharraf are as follows.
1. General Pervez Musharraf led a military coup in October 1999. He overthrew a democratiacally elected government and declared himself the 'Chief Executive' of the country.
2. Later he changed his desigination of President and in 2002 held a referendum in the country that granted him afive year extension.
3. Under a 'Legal Framework' Order' that amended the constitution of Pakistan The president can dismiss the national or provincial assemblies.
4. The work of the civilian cabinet is supervised by a National Security Council which is dominated by military officers.
5. But the final power rests with military officers and General Musharraf himself.

These are some arguments against democracy.
(i) The regular election and change in leaders makes system instable.
(ii) Due to political competition,leaders use power and money to win election.
(iii) The decision making process is slow as large number of participant has to be consulted.
(iv) Democracy leads to corruption for it is based on electoral competition.

Five arguments in favour of democracy are
(i) A democratic form of government is a better government because it is a more accountable form of government. A democracy requires that the rulers have to attend to the needs of the people.
(ii) Democracy is based on consultation and discussion. Although it takes time, this process reduces the chances of rash and irresponsible decisions. Thus, democracy improves the quality of decision-making.
(iii) Democracy provides a method to deal with differences and conflicts in society. In a diverse country like India, democracy keeps our country together.
(iv) As democracy is based on the principle of political equality, it enhances the dignity of citizens.
(v) Democracy is better than other forms of government because it allows us to correct our own mistakes. In democracy, there is a scope for public discussion on these mistakes

General Pervez Musharraf declared himself the Chief Executive of Pakistan when he overthrew the democratic government of Pakistan in 1999.

PRI(Institutional Revolutionary Party) won every election Mexico since 1930 to 2000 because.
(a) Opposition parties did not have any chance to win election
(b) The PRI used all kind of manipulations and employed dirty tricks to win elections.
(c) Government servant and teachers were forced to influence voters
(d) There was no independent media.
(e) Sometimes the polling booths were shifted from one place to another in the last minute, which made it difficult for people to cast their votes.
(f) The PRI spent a large sum of money in the campaign for its candidates
(g) People seemed to really have a choice but in practise, they had no choice and could not the ruling party.
