Gandhigram Institute of Rural Health and Family Welfare Trust is affiliated with Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. Institute objectives are formulated and reformulated to address the National Health and Family Welfare programs of the Government.

The Gandhigram Institute of Rural Health and Family Welfare Trust (GIRH & FWT) is popular for its health promotional efforts since the early 1959 as the Institute laid its ground through the pilot health project for controlling population.

The Institute is a pioneer one in the achievements of successful family welfare programs and to serve the rural community in different aspects of health.  It has demonstrated the impacts of sanitation, nutrition, maternal and child health and family planning in the rural areas.  The primary focus is to improve people’s health seeking behaviour in rural areas.
