About College

Mehar Chand College of Education, Bhanopli is established in the name of Late Shri Mehar Chand Chaudhary. Shri Mehar Chand Chaudhary came to this area in 1952 when his family along with several other families of his native place ‘Chaunta’ were displaced from that area due to the establishment of the Bhakra Dam.

This institution is affiliated to Punjabi University Patiala and is recognised by National Council for Teacher Education and started functioning on 16th of August 2005. This institution is situated exactly in between Nangal and Anandpur on Nangal – Chandigarh Highway and is surrounded by ancient Shivalik Hills. The holy temple of Shri Naina Devi Ji is distinctly visible from the institution. The admission in the college is made purely on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidate in the centralized entrance test conducted for B.Ed. by the Government of Punjab. Students come not only from the whole state but also from across the country.
