About College

Sahid Memorial Degree College, Manida, Mayurbhanj was set up in 192 with post-facto permission and concurrence obtained from Dept. of H.E. Govt. Odisha and D.P.I. (H.E.) respectively. D.H.E, Govt. of Odisha accorded permission to the opening of +3 Stream in Arts with a sanction strength of 128 students in each comp. subjects like- English, MIL (O), Optional subject like-History, Political Science, Education, Sociology and Economics, Subsequent Recognisations were obtained through procedures. It was affiliated to Utkal University, Vanivihar, BBSR. Initially and later it was affiliated to North Odisha University, Takhatpur, Baripada instead. In the year 2003 permanent concurrence was accorded to it i.r.o. +3 pass course in Arts Permanent affiliation was accorded by the University (North Odisha) i.r.o. +3 Arts (Pass) from session 2003-04. 

During 2003-04 permission for opening of Hons. Subjects like Education, Sociology & Economics- each 16 seats-was accorded by D.H.E. Govt. of Odisha. In subsequent Years, Permanent Concurrence and affiliation were obtained form D.H.E Govt. of Desha and North Desha University i.r.o. Hons. Subjects. Being situated in a tribal area under Rasgobindpur Block of Mayurbanj District of Odisha, It has been imparting quality education to mostly girls, Boys of poor families and students of ST, SC since its establishment 1992. The College had a  Constitutional G.B. until 2011. In the year 2011 the earlier G.B. was dissolved and new G.B. was formed with the Sub-Collector, as president and acting principal as Principal in-charge-cum-Secretary. Recently in 2011, the college was accorded 2 (f) and 12 (B) recognition under U.G.C. Act of 1956. The Principal is not only the Administrative head of the college but also the authority over all sphere of duty and functions.
