National Institute Of Epidemiology 2021 notifications

The National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE) was established on July 2, 1999 by merging the Central JALMA Institute for Leprosy (CJIL Field Unit), Avadi with the Institute for Research in Medical Statistics (IRMS), Chennai.

The broad objectives of the Institute cover Development of human resources in epidemiology and bio-statistics, Networking of the various ICMR and non-ICMR Institutes at the national level for epidemiological purposes, and Consultancy.

NIE was conducting two programmes of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram:

 (1) Master of Applied Epidemiology (MAE) since 2001 and

(2)Master of Public Health (Health Services Development Research) (MPH-HSDR)

Since 2008, at NIE, Chennai. These programmers were primarily aimed at developing a cadre of trained public health professionals in the country by training the ‘in-service’ health professionals working in government health departments.
