UPSC 2017 Civil Service Exam is the gateway to All India Services like Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Forest Service (IFS) and 22 other Central Services. The UPSC IAS Prelim 2017 exam is going to conduct on 18th June 2017 and IAS Main Exam will be held on 28th October 2017 (Tentatively). The IAS stands for Indian Administrator Service. The purpose of this recruitment is to select the best suitable candidate for the Indian Administration Unit who will give their contribution in serving the country. For the recruitment of IAS officer civil service examination (CSE) is being conducted by the UPSC. CSE is the national competitive exam which happens under the banner of UPSC. This exam is conducted in two phases a preliminary exam and the main examination followed by the interview. UPSC is the organization which is formed by the government of India on 1 October 1926. It is the national level platform which elects the exam i.e. civil services examination, Engineering service examination, naval academy examination, Officers’ training academy examination and combined defense services examination. Its official website is www.upsc.gov.in. Union Public Service Commission has released the Indian Civil Services notification 2017. Total 980 vacancies are announced by the UPSC this year. UPSC Exam Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification: - Candidates having degree or its equivalent qualification from a recognized university are only eligible to appear for civil service examination. Candidates who have appeared in the final year degree exam but awaiting for their result can also apply for Preliminary examination, subject of submitting passing proof along with application for Civil Service Examination (Main).

Nationality

It is mandatory for all UPSC exam that the candidate must be an Indian personnel. A citizen of Nepal, a citizen of Bhutan or a refugee from any other country can apply for the IAS 2017 Prelim and Main exam, in order to fulfill the criteria, they must have the permanent plan to settle in India.

Number of Attempts:

  • An attempt at a Preliminary Examination is considered to be an attempt at the Civil Services Examination.
  • If a candidate actually appears in any one paper in the Preliminary Examination, he/she is considered to have made an attempt in the UPSC Examination.
  • The number of times a candidate may attempt the exam is limited as follows:
  1. OBC category candidates: 9
  2. General category candidates: 6
  3. SC/ST Candidates: Unlimited
  4. In the preliminary examination appearing to attempt one of the papers is counted as an attempt, including disqualification/cancellation of candidature.
