About College

Jammikunta is a Municipality in Karimnagar District of Andhra Pradesh. Jammikunta is well connected by rail on the Hyderabad-Kazipet JN -New Delhi route or Chenni-Vijayawada-Kazipet JN-New Delhi route. It is situated 170  kms away from Hyderabad and 36 KMS from Kazipet JN.  Jammikunta  has a railway station and many trains in this route connect  to  important places across India including Delhi, Jaipur, Vijayawada,Thirupathi, Bangalore, Mysore , Hyderabad etc.  It is 50 kms away from Rajiv Gandhi National Highway  and is connected at Karimnagar. 
 
The college was taken over by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 1982.  Later it has got permanent affiliation from Kakatiya University, Warangal and permanent recognition under section 2(f) and 12(b) of UGC act.
The college switched over to 10+2+3 system of education and Telugu as medium of instruction in 1970, as per the policy of the state government.  In 1996, the Government of Andhra Pradesh bifurcated the college into two separate colleges side by side  â€“ Government Junior College, Jammikunta and  Government Degree College, Jammikunta.

The college when started in 1965 had only 4 groups with only 300 students. In recent years the college has introduced restructured courses with new departments such as computers, microbiology as per the needs of changing times.  At present the college has 8 groups with 951 students. Even today this college is continuing its services for the students of entire Jammikunta Mandal people and its surrounding Mandal people.
