CMS College of Engineering was established at Namakkal in 2007 with the aim of providing value added technical education with a flair of professional excellence and ethical values.The Institute is a co-educational self financial institution, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The institution was started by the chairman and industrialist Thiru C. Muthusamy, with the aim of offering various value based courses that should match the global requirements. The college is also founded specially to uplift the rural backward communities with impeccable quality of teaching and thereby making them employed in good companies and royal industries. The mission of the college is endeavors to impart high quality, competency based technical education in Engineering and technology to the younger generation with the required skills and the abilities to face the challenging needs of the industry around the globe. The primary focus of CMS is to expose the students to the world of technology, instilling in them confidence to face new challenges enabling them to shine in their chosen fields. The core values of the college are quality, equity, morality, environmental sustainability, energy saving and strong commitment to the cause of technical education and services. Today the college is recognized for its special and unique teaching methodology and holistic approach towards education.

CMS College of Engineering has separate hostels for Boys and Girls inside the campus, with well furnished and spacious rooms. The hostels have excellent water facility, modern kitchen and dining. The students are provided with the choice of vegetarian and non vegetarian food. The rooms are furnished with individual cots, tables, chairs, and bureau. Importance is given in maintaining discipline and security of the students. The resident warden of each hostel takes care to see that all the needs of the students are met and a homely atmosphere with a sense of security is created. Immediate medical care is given to hostel students on requirement. The placement cell of CMS is constituted to provide the right perspective regarding the various career options available to the students and sufficiently train them to choose and pursue their careers of choice. The training program encompasses a three stage process to train the students to make them ready for the industry and develop the etiquettes of the corporate world. The placement department supports students with resources and ideas, a database, notification of new placements etc. The college committed to the total upliftment of the society by imparting quality professional education, aiming at modeling totally competent professionals with ingenuity, adaptability, social commitment and ethical spiritual values by creating a congenial academic ambience that kindles innovative thinking, continually upgrade the quality management system through empowerment and involvement.
