Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology

Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology (MCET), Coimbatore established in 1998. It is a self financed co-institution affiliated to Anna University and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The aim of the institute is to equip students with sound technical knowledge and skill, to offer an educational program with a plethora of innovative concepts, for creating a host of talented professionals and Foster an open student-oriented culture and perhaps even more important, an understanding of students, their needs, goals and aspirations. MCET is one of the finest institutions of technical learning in India, was started with the singular objective of disseminating technical knowledge among the youth by bringing top-of-the-line technical education that is on par with global standards to the rural community in southern India. The mission of the institute is to develop exceptional opportunities for study & research and a system of industry-institution interaction, through industry-liaison cells, for students to contribute to our nation's economic growth and to evolve a friendly face of education with emphasis laid on engineering technology & research. The institute has dedicated team of professors, assistant professors and senior lecturers assist the department heads to effectively carry out the academic programs and they are the backbone of the institute.

The spacious buildings punctuated with landscaped courtyards emphasise the character of the Institute as a citadel of learning. The campus hosts well-planned academic blocks, computer centres, lecture halls, state-of-the-art laboratories, a hi-tech language laboratory, a yoga centre, air-conditioned conference halls, staff quarters, hostels, and student's centres. Plentiful avenues for physical development have also been provided. Hostels (separate for boys and girls) spell comfort and class. Students are assured of nutritious and hygienic food. The students' centre has been equipped adequately to encourage indoor games and recreation facilities. The centre is replete with an entertainment hall comprising of a giant television set and a movie projection system. The Institute has an open culture wherein students interact freely with the members of faculty. The students have a remarkable advantage of garnering valuable insights and acquainting themselves with industrial procedures and functions by way of easy access to several constituent companies of the MCET which has laid its roots in the sectors ranging from textiles and sugar to automobile and distillery. A separate cell for Placement & Training functions under the supervision and guidance of the MCET Team consisting of senior members of faculty drawn from various departments. Recruitment teams from several corporate houses visit the Institute for campus selection every year. The academic ambience coupled with the knowledge hub of the members of faculty and excellent infrastructure is conducive enough to mould the personality of students to be qualified, skilled and confident in the field of engineering and technology and to take on the world with great vigour.
