About College

Govt. Polytechnic Ambikapur is located in tribal belt  of  the  Chhattisgarh  state.  It  is  the  district Headquarter     of     the     Sarguja Distt.       This  district    is    a    remotely      located,   economically   backward    district     of    India  mainly  consisting  primitive   tribes    such   as   Korwas  &  Pandows     blessed     by    mineral  resources, dense forest & ample water & human 

resources  surrounded by Coal  &  Bauxite  industries   together   with  Thermal Power plants. The  nearest  railway   station  is   Bishrampur ( 26 km.) .  The   nearest   bigger  cities   are   Bilaspur  (230 km.)  &   Raipur   (358 km.)   connected      by      Roadways.  Govt.   Polytechnic  College Ambikapur   was  established  in  1982  with a proposal of single   branch  in   Civil  Engg.   The   foundation   was   led  by   Er.  S.  N.   Awasthy,  the  first   Principal  of   this   institute.
