About College

Jawahar Bharati made its appearance as Kavali College in 1951. It was inaugurated on 1st July 1951 by late P.V.Rajamannar,the then Chief Justice of Composite Madras State.

The college started in 1951 with an initial strength of 96 in the Junior Intermediate class with the group subjects Mathematics, Commerce,History and Economics,along with the Telugu and English languages. Degree Course was started in 1953 with Economics as the main. Then B.A.,(Telugu),B.A.,(History) and B.Com. degree courses have been started.P.U.C. was started in 1957-58 in place of the two year Intermediate course. The same year Science group was also started. The three year degree course came into existence the next year in place of the two year degree course.

Kavali college was rechristened Jawahar Bharati on 14-11-1965 by the then Vice President of India Dr.Zakir Hussain. Today Jawahar Bharati Degree College has a total Strength of nearly two thousand five hundred students in degree courses.
