Maharaja Institute Technology was started during 2006 –2007 under affiliation of Anna University. It is situated at Arasur, which is 16 km from the main city, Coimbatore. The institution is located in a very serene atmosphere. The institution is well equipped with qualified staff and sophisticated laboratory facilities. The library has adequate copies of titles and relevant subject materials. 

MIT has equipped computer lab with 180 computers with latest configurations to meet the requirements of circuit branch students. From 2007 onwards MBA course has been started as an additional course with intake of 60 students. The college has separate hostels with all basic facilities including dispensary for boys and girls.
