About College

National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi was established by a legislative act of the Government of Jharkhand (act no. 4 of 2010) as the fourteenth national law university of India (National Law University, Ranchi). A. K. Koul is the first Vice-Chancellor of the University. NUSRL is currently functioning out of a temporary campus in BIT Mesra. It was formally inaugurated by the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court and Supreme Court Judge designate Gyan Sudha Mishra on April 26, 2010, in the Birla Institute of Technology-Mesra campus.

The university has acquired a 63.76 acre site in the out skirts of Ranchi, neighbouring IIM Ranchi , Indian Institute of Coal Management, Central University of Jharkhand and Birsa Agricultural University. The 63.76-acre site, once finished will become the second largest National Law University campus in India.
