About College


N.J.S.A Government College, Kapurthala was established in 1856 by Maharaja Randir Singh in Kapurthala as a leading Sanskrit institute to encourage education in one of the Punjab's richest state. N.J.S.A. Government College was upgraded in 1896 as an intermediate college. In 1945, N.J.S.A. Government College was made a degree college. Since then if been timely upgraded in 1968 PG in English was introduced, in 1976 PG in economics was introduced. In 1986 B.Com and 1991 B.Sc. Medical was put on the rolls of the College. N.J.S.A. Government College is affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

In the changing scenario of the 21st Century, the mission of the college is to provide theoretical and practical knowledge of science,commerce and social science to enpower educationally weaker sections of the society with the tools to achieve all round development, to inculcate social and civic responsibilities amongst the students so that they become responsible citizens and the pride of future Indian.
