Ranganathan Engineering College has been established in the year 2007 by Ranganathan Rajeswari Charitable Trust, Coimbatore. with the noble ambition of providing equal opportunity to all who wish to pursue their higher education particularly to the rural students of India.

Ranganathan Rajeswari Charitable Trust is the brain child of Dr.P.Tamilarasi Murugesan and Dr. R. Murugesan, who have gained more than 30 years of experience in academic carrier at various capacities, Both of them had travelled far and wide and collected valuable information from various centres of learning around the world practice them here.

REC is located between the panoramic slopes of Velliangiri hills and Maruthamalai Hills that are branching out of the Western Ghats. Being in the greenish foothills of Western Ghats the college is having the highly congenial weather and climate throughout the year for efficient dissemination of teaching learning process. At the same time it is not too far from the comfort and sophistication of Coimbatore. The College is well connected to all parts of Coimbatore by its own transport services and public transport system.

REC believes in complete transformation of a student into full-fledged engineer. Complete personality development, shaping ones character to face the ever changing challenges of outside world, creating a voracious thirst in updating knowledge and skill, exposure to systematic and smart work are given to the students through the participation in the activities of various clubs, cells and associations. About 33 clubs and cells are functioning in this college where the students enroll themselves as members and actively participate in organizing programs.
