Shri Shahaji Chhatrapati Mahavidyalaya, Kolhapur was established in 1971 managed under Shri Shahu Chhatrapati Shikshan Sanstha. The College is accredited by NAAC ranking B++. The College goal is to provide higher education to socially and economically disadvantaged students. The College strives for Rajashri Shahu’s ideals of mass education, social justice and equality. The motto of the college is  Dnyanam Hi Paramam Balam.
 
The College offers Courses B.C.A. and M.B.A. under Distance Education Programmes of Tilak Maharashtra University, Pune. The College also provides the unique facility of dual degrees to student of this area. The aim of the College that every student who has completed his/her education here, should have the social and reformatory attitude in life.
