St. Joseph's College of Pharmacy, Cherthala was established in 2002 with Diploma programme and was upgraded in 2004.

St. Joseph’s College of Pharmacy is a unit of the Nirmala Province of the Medical Sisters of St. Joseph (Dharmagiri) Aluva. The college is registered under the Dharmagiri St. Joseph’s Hospital Trust, Muttom, Cherthala as a Charitable Trust. The congregation of the Medical Sisters of St. Joseph is dedicated to the healing ministry and allied Medical Education aiming the uplift of the suffering humanity and not profit motive.. 

The college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and affiliated to University of Kerala. From 2010 onwards the college is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS)
