NASSCOM Assessment of Competence ( NAC )

NASSCOM, the premier trade body and ‘voice’ of the IT software and service industry in India, today announced the rollout of the NASSCOM Assessment of Competence ( NAC ) in Tripura and Meghalaya, in association with the Development of North Eastern Region ( DONER ). NASSCOM had announced its plans to conduct the NAC test in the north eastern region earlier this year in July through a Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU ) with Ministry of DONER for the rollout of NAC in the region. As part of this initiative, NASSCOM aims to conduct NAC test amongst 20,000 students across eight states.

NAC-Tech stands for NASSCOM Assessment of Competence – Technical. It is very beneficial for the students aspiring to get jobs in IT companies as it is a common transparent test. Also it enables the colleges to generate a skill level of its students. It helps to create a national standard of recruitment.NAC-Tech Exam Pattern : This test is divided in 2 parts. First part is mandatory for anyone & second part is a optional test which the candidate has to choose the branch in which you want to get job in.

Part A

Time Limit- 2 Hrs. 15 mints

No of questions: 111

No of sections -6

All the questions of the Optional paper are Objective type (i.e. multiple choice).

Part A – This has to attempted by everyone. This is done to test the non-engineering skills of the candidate. There are 6 sections in this part. All the questions are objective types. The time allotted will be 135mins i.e. 2hrs.15mins for 111 questions.  The various sections are -

1. Verbal Ability Test: 25 questions to be solved in 20 mints.

2. Analytical ability: 30 mints to be given for 25 questions.

3. Attention to Details: 20 mints for 20 questions

4. Programming Fundamentals: 30 questions for 40 mints

5. Learning Ability Test: 10 questions in 20 mints.

6. Written English Test: 5 mints for 1 question.

 Part B

Time Limit: 40 Mints

No of Questions: 40

All the questions of the Optional paper are Objective type (i.e. multiple choice).

Part B – This is to test the engineering skills of the students especially in their discipline. There will be 40 questions to be solve in 40 mints. All questions are objective types. The various branches are -

Optional Paper: IT Concepts Test: 40 questions in 60 minutes.

Topics Covered: Introduction to Databases, Relationships, ER Diagrams, Constraints and Keys, Normalization, Indexing, Performance, Locking, Database Structures & Processes, Process Management, Deadlocks, Memory management, OS File Management, OS Security fundamentals, IO Management, Device Management, Network Technology, Network Topology, OSI Reference model, Protocols, Client Server Architecture, Linked Lists, Trees, Stacks, Queues, Dynamic Memory Allocation, Sorting and Searching Algorithms, Structures, Software Life Cycle(SDLC),Requirements Analysis, Design, Coding, Levels of Testing, Implementation, Maintenance, Development Models.

2. Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering: 40 questions in 40 minutes.

Topics Covered: DC Machines, Electrical Fundamentals, Electrical Measurements, Control Systems, Circuit Analysis.

Mechanical Engineering: 40 questions in 40 minutes.

5. Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering: 40 questions in 40 minutes.

Topics Covered: Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics & Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, SOM.

6. Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engineering: 40 questions in 40 minutes.

Topics Covered: Momentum Transfer & Mechanical Operations, Heat Transfer, Mass Transfer, Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, Chemical Reaction Engineering

7. Textile Engineering

Textile Engineering: 40 questions in 40 minutes.

Topics Covered: Textile Polymer Science, Textile Fibre, Yarn Manufacturing, Fabric Manufacturing, Chemical Processing of Textiles, Manufactured Fibre Technologies, Textile Fibre Physics, Woven cloth construction and textile design.

8. Bio Technology

Bio Technology: 40 questions in 40 minutes.

Topics Covered: Micro Biology, Cell Biology & Genetics, Bio Chemistry & Bio Energetic, Molecular Biology & Genetic Engineering, Immunology, Bioprocess & Bio reaction Engineering.

9. Telecommunication Engineering

Telecommunication Engineering: 40 questions in 40 minutes.
